Non-invasive Diagnosis of Liver Clinical Condition by Real-time Tissue Elastography and Shear Wave Measurement : Get More Accessible by One Probe

چکیده
It is ver y important to understand the stage of liver fibrosis and the level of inflammation both in a treatment plan setting and for predicting the prognosis of viral and other diffuse liver diseases. Liver biopsy is considered as the gold standard but it has problems relating to its invasiveness (pain and bleeding) and the possibility of bias due to sampling error. Recently, ultrasound elastography has been reported as an effective method for evaluating the level of hepatic fibrosis noninvasively. The possibility of using elastography for evaluating liver cancer risk has also been studied. 2) Other publications suggest that liver stiffness significantly varies under the influence of inflammation, jaundice and congestion. Many devices capable of ultrasound elastography are available, featuring measurements of different physical parameters and using different excitation methods (generation of the physical phenomena for measurement). The appropriate method should be selected after carefully studying these different features (Table 1).

Principles and clinical application of ultrasound elastography for diffuse liver disease
Accurate assessment of the degree of liver fibrosis is important for estimating prognosis and deciding on an appropriate course of treatment for cases of chronic liver disease (CLD) with various etiologies. Because of the inherent limitations of liver biopsy, there is a great need for non-invasive and reliable tests that accurately estimate the degree of liver fibrosis. Ultrasound (US) elastogr...

Liver fibrosis evaluation is very important for treatment and prognosis in patients with chronic liver disease. The "gold-standard" method for liver fibrosis assessment is still considered to be the liver biopsy, but in the last years non-invasive methods have increasingly been used, especially ultrasound based elastographic ones. The oldest and the only validated elastographic method for non-i...
متن کاملShear wave elastography with a new reliability indicator
Non-invasive methods for liver stiffness assessment have been introduced over recent years. Of these, two main methods for estimating liver fibrosis using ultrasound elastography have become established in clinical practice: shear wave elastography and quasi-static or strain elastography. Shear waves are waves with a motion perpendicular (lateral) to the direction of the generating force. Shear...

l l i i h n a w s e iver fibrosis is, undoubtedly, one of the main prognostic facors in liver disease because it determines the development f cirrhosis and its subsequent complications.1 Classically, liver biopsy has been considered the old-standard for liver fibrosis assessment.2 There are limtations associated to liver biopsy, namely sampling bias, bserver variability among pathologists and p...
متن کاملFibroscan (transient elastography) for the measurement of liver fibrosis.
NHA The Fibroscan device (Echosens) works by measuring shear wave velocity. In this technique, a 50-MHz wave is passed into the liver from a small transducer on the end of an ultrasound probe (Figure 1). The probe also has a transducer on the end that can measure the velocity of the shear wave (in meters per second) as this wave passes through the liver. The shear wave velocity can then be conv...
